Reading Municipal Light Department Issues Warning On Scams
The utility said it has received reports that scammers are demanding payment in exchange for continued electrical service.
READING, MA — The Reading Municipal Light Department said it has received reports of a scam. The scammer states that they're from Eversource and that electricity will be shut off immediately if the customer doesn't submit a payment through Zelle.
The Reading Municipal Light Department said it and other utilities never demand immediate payment in this manner.
The utility said customers should not submit payment in these instances and should not share their personal information.
