Reading Native to Run Boston Marathon for Foundation

Danny Walsh, 22, of Reading, will be taking on the Boston Marathon this year for the fifth time, all to support the b.good Family Foundation, an organization created by Boston’s own b.good restaurants. The foundation provides quarterly micro-grants to support individuals and initiatives making positive changes in the local communities.

Walsh, a junior at Northeastern University, has been part of the “Burger Brigade” for 4 years. In past years, they have been seen taking on the historic course in hamburger costumes. Due to changes in policy, they have traded in the iconic suits for more traditional wear, but still don them during training runs.

"This year symbolizes the redemption for all those whose dreams were cut short due to last year’s incident. This year I’m coming out for my city - for Boston," says Walsh.

The b.good Family Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization on a mission to help real people with great ideas do good  - good being defined by the applicant. Throughout the year, the organization gives out micro-grants to social entrepreneurs, existing charitable leaders, or everyday people looking to make a change. To help support their cause, six runners known as the Burger Brigade will be taking on the marathon on April 21, with 100% of their fundraising efforts going directly to the Foundation.
