Reading Options For Getting Rid Of The Christmas Tree

Step 1, remove ornaments. Step 2, read this.

Once a beautiful part of your holiday celebration, it's now a dried-out fire hazard you can't wait to get rid of.

If you live in Reading, there are two ways to dispose of your Christmas tree.

Option 1: The compost center will be open Saturday, Jan. 13, and residents can bring their trees between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Remember, you'll need a 2018 community access compost sticker. Information on that can be found here. Leaves and branches will also be accepted, good news for people (like me) who still have bags of leaves piled up in their garage.

Option 2: Trees will be picked up curbside on your regular rubbish collection day the week of Jan. 8-12. All decorations, including tinsel, must be removed from your tree.
