Reading Police to Hold Self-Defense Classes For Women

Sign up now for four classes that begin next month.

Chief Mark D. Segalla announced that the Reading Police Department will host a free Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course for women this spring. The program is designed to teach personal safety skills. It begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, and progresses to hands-on physical defense techniques.

"Our previous R.A.D. classes held last year were very successful and I encourage any woman who has not yet taken it to sign up," Segalla said. "We are committed to the safety and well-being of all our residents and are proud to teach these self-defense tactics."

The session consists of four classes, each of which will be held from 6-10 p.m. on the following dates:
