READING, MA — The Reading Public Library is inviting patrons to attend its Día celebration on Saturday.

Día is short for El día de los niños/El día de los libros, and is an annual celebration of children, families, culture and stories. The library, located at 64 Middlesex Ave., will feature several activities throughout the day on Saturday.

The day will begin with a 10 a.m. movie extravaganza in Community Room A and Community Room B. The library said it is not able to reveal the name of the "mystery movie," other than it's a "popular animated musical about a magical home and the special family that lives there."

The library will provide a green screen, lighting and story prompts. Plus, volunteers will be available to assist with technical elements of the production.

"Our goal is to combine the footage into a video that captures the diversity of our town, the warmth of the community and the stories that unite us," the library said in a statement.

Finally, at 3 p.m. in Community Room A, Community Room B, Thomas Green, a member of the Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag, will be on hand for a celebration of indigenous storytelling. The event is best for families with children in elementary school, according to the library.

The library said the Día celebrations are supported by the Friends of Reading Public Library.
