Reading’s Fire Station 2 to Close for Repairs

Asbestos abatement work on the floor tiles should finish by Aug. 11.

Fire Station 2, also known as the Westside side fire station, located at 267 Woburn Street, Reading, will close on Sunday, July 30 for asbestos abatement work on the floor tiles. The tiles were damaged due to a water leak on July 1st . During the flooring removal and installation process, personnel will work out of Fire Department
headquarters on 757 Main Street.

Officials anticipate work will be completed by Aug. 11 and the station will be reopened. During construction no fire personnel will be stationed at the Woburn Street station. Any member of the public who requires emergency assistance should call 911.
