Reading Select Board Approves Investigation: Report
The Select Board approved an investigation into the circumstances surrounding former chair Jackie McCarthy's abrupt departure.
READING, MA — The Select Board voted 3 to 1 to authorize Town Manager Matt Kraunelis to hire an independent investigator to look into the situation regarding former chair Jackie McCarthy's decision to resign in February, according to The Reading Post.
Specifically, the investigation will examine if anyone sought to exercise “undue or inappropriate influence” over her vote for the new town manager.
McCarthy began a February meeting by resigning her position after disclosing that she spoke about one of the town manager candidates with another board member. McCarthy also said she had a text conversation with another board member about a candidate.
