Reading Seniors Invited To Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

Event is Nov. 18 at the Hillview Country Club in North Reading.

Reading seniors are invited to attend the annual Thanksgiving Dinner at the Hillview Country Club in North Reading on Saturday, Nov. 18. Doors will open at 12:15 p.m. and dinner will be served at 1 p.m.

Hosted by Representative and Mrs. Bradley H. Jones, Jr., Representative and Mrs. Jim Dwyer, and Senator and Mrs. Jason Lewis, the dinner will feature musical entertainment provided by Sergeant Dan Clark, the famous “singing trooper.”

The Reading Thanksgiving Dinner has been held annually since 2008. Every year, hundreds of local residents gather to enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings.

"We are truly grateful to the many local businesses and individuals who have partnered with us to help make this event such a great success,” said Representative Jones. “We invite Reading’s seniors to join us at the Hillview as we celebrate the start of the holiday season.”

“I am proud to join my colleagues in representing the town of Reading, Rep. Brad Jones and Senator Jason Lewis, to honor our seniors and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Representative Dwyer. “We are so fortunate to have so many generous partners including businesses, community leaders, and caring individuals who have made this a great annual event that I’ve had such great pride in taking part in these past 9 years.”

“This year I’ll be giving thanks to my legislative colleagues for their leadership in honoring our seniors through this dinner, to the businesses and community leaders who support this event, and to the seniors of Reading for all that you have contributed to our community,” said Senator Lewis.

The dinner is free and open to all Reading residents over the age of 60. However, reservations are required and will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Those attending this year’s dinner are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Reading Food Pantry.

For reservations or to arrange transportation, please call the Reading Senior Center at 781-942-6794 no later than Thursday, November 9.
