Reading Teams Jockeying for Playoff Positioning
A handful of Rocket teams are in the playoff picture, hoping to improve their chances in the final two weeks of the regular season.

It's been a stellar winter season for Reading teams, and several Rocket squads are hoping to improve their playoff prospects with just two weeks remaining in the regular season.
The girls gymnastics team is the first Reading team in action this week, traveling to Arlington at 6 p.m. on Monday.
On Tuesday, it's the basketball teams that take their turn versus Arlington. The unbeaten juggernaut girls basketball team hosts Arlington in a 5:30 p.m. tilt while the boys team hopes to improve its playoff chances at 7 p.m. against the same foe.

The Rockets boys team is currently in second place, which would be good for a playoff spot. However, Winchester and Arlington are right behind the locals in the standings. Two more wins would guarantee the team would make the playoffs, so Tuesday's game is critical.
Wednesday is jam packed with Rocket sports action. First the girls hockey team, second in the Middlesex League at 13-3-1, battles 13-0-3 first place squad Woburn at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the girls basketball team is in Belmont while the boys team is at home against the same opponent.
But the action doesn't end there. The first place boys hockey team hopes to keep itself in the Super 8 conversation, taking on Woburn at home with an 8 p.m. puck drop. The Rockets enter the game with a sparkling 14-1-4 record, among the top teams in Division 1.
All Reading teams have Valentine's Day off with no games scheduled for Thursday, but several teams are back in action on Friday.
Arlington hosts the Lady Rockets hockey team at 4 p.m. on the day. The girls basketball team travels to Woburn at 7 p.m. while the boys team welcomes the Tanners to town at 7 p.m.
Saturday will be a huge test for the boys hockey team as the Rockets travel to battle Wilmington, a team with Super 8 hopes of its own. Though the Wildcats play in Division 2, they're defending state champions and are fighting to become the first Division 2 squad since 1996 to make the Super 8.
Also on Saturday, the Lady Rockets hockey team hosts Wakefield, with a 6 p.m. face off.
