Reading vs. King Phillip Super Bowl Showdown at Gillette Stadium: Game Info, TV Schedule and Preview

READING, MA — For the second consecutive season, the Reading Memorial High School Rockets football team will compete for an MIAA Super Bowl.

The 8-3 Rockets will challenge undefeated King Phillip from Wrentham at Gillette Stadium Saturday night with the Division 1A Super Bowl on the line. The Rockets played for the Division 2 state championship one year ago, and will look to take that final step and capture the state championship this season.

Game Details

The game will be the final one played at Gillette Stadium Saturday night, beginning at approximately 8 p.m., depending on the completion of the previous game between Shrewsbury and Duxbury.

Gillette Stadium is located at 1 Patriot Place. From I-95 South, Fans should enter through the P1 parking entrance. Find driving directions from Reading Town Hall to the P1 parking entrance in the map below.

No tailgating will be allowed in the parking lots, and fan busses are encouraged to arrive at the stadium thirty minutes prior to each's games approximate start time.

Tickets will cost $17 for adults and $14 for students and senior citizens. Children under five years old receive free admission.

Preview

The last of six games in Foxboro pits Hockomock Kelley-Rex champion KP against a Reading team that finished second behind Lexington in the Middlesex Liberty. KP, which is playing in its first Super Bowl, is led by running back Shane Frommer. Reading is led by the Division's second-leading scorer in quarterback Corey DiLoreto and running back Nick DiNapoli.

The Rockets kicked off the 2016 campaign with an 2-2 record, but rattled off wins in six of their last seve games to finish the season 8-3. Reading's defensive unit has been dominant in the North Division 1A tournament, allowing just seven points in its three tournament games including shutouts against Chelmsford and Malden Catholic.

King Phillip makes its Super Bowl debut on the strength of its strong offensive attack, scoring 51 points in the South Division 1A quarterfinals against Attleboro.

Both teams come into the game with significant momentum, as Reading punched its ticket to Gillette with a 21-7 victory over Lincoln-Sudbury, and King Phillip defeating Bridgewater-Raynham in a 33-27 thriller to earn its Super Bowl berth.
