Reading's Defense Dominates in Win Against Masconomet

The Reading Memorial High School football team passed a big early-season test on Thursday night, as the Rocket defense stifled host Masconomet in an 18-7 win.

Reading's defense held the Chieftains (0-2) to just 64 first-half yards and shut them out until the final drive of the game. 

After a scoreless first quarter, running back Nick Scali put Reading (2-0) on the board with a 6-yard scoring run as the Rockets took a 6-0 lead into the locker room at the half. 

Rockets quarterback Brian Bourque continued to impress in his new starting role, rushing for a pair of touchdowns (3-yards, 1-yard) and passing for 80 yards.

Next up for Reading will be Winchester at home next Friday at 7 p.m.
