Brigadier General Jack Hammond Leads Reading Memorial Day Service

A day to salute fallen heroes begins with town's annual morning parade.

Reading will celebrate, honor and remember those who have served our country in Monday ceremonies starting at 9 a.m.

The town's annual parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the American Legion on Ash street and proceed to the first ceremony at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The town is honored to have Reading's own Brigadier General Jack Hammond as the guest speaker. Hammond served 30 years in the Army including time in Afghanistan and Iraq. He's currently director of the Home Base program.

At 9:15 a.m., services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

At 10:45 a.m. services will be held at Forest Glen Cemetery.

At 11:30 a.m. services will be held at Charles Lawn Cemetery.

At noon, services will be held at Wood End Cemetery.

The forecast is for a beautiful day with temperatures in the 70s but should that change, all observances will be held at the American Legion Post 62 on 37 Ash Street.
