Reading's Portion of Chapter 90 Funds Nears $600,000
Chapter 90 funds are state monies for road repairs and improvements.

Reading will receive $598,893 from the state for local road repairs and improvements.
This Fiscal Year 2016 Chapter 90 allotment announcement comes just a short time after it was announced Reading is eligible for $90,880 as part of the state’s Winter Recovery Assistance Program (WRAP), which was approved by the governor out of the FY15 budget.
Chapter 90 funds are ”issued from the state transportation bond and will provide resources for street and sidewalk repair,” according to a press release.

The program funds are 100 percent reimbursable and each municipality’s portion is based on a formula that takes into account road miles, population and employees.
“I’m pleased to see the Town of Reading receiving these much needed funds for street and sidewalk repairs,” said Sen. Jason Lewis (D-Winchester). “Especially after the toll this winter has taken on our communities’ infrastructure, it is critical for state government to be a supportive partner with local governments in ensuring that our neighborhoods are safe for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.”
