RMHS Retail Banking Students Attend MSBA Competition at Federal Reserve Bank

Reading, MA – On Friday, April 19, Reading Memorial High School students from the Retail Banking course participated in the annual Massachusetts School Banking Association (MSBA) competition at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston.

The RMHS students competed against 22 other schools in three different areas at the conference: Marketing, Product Development and the Banking Trivia Bowl. Members of the RMHS Product Development team took home second place for the Budget Buddy product that they created.

The Reading Cooperative Bank educational office partners with the RMHS Business and Technology Department to offer the Retail Banking course. The course offers students practical experience interacting with the public and processing bank transactions, with emphasis on responsibility, confidentiality, security, accountability, and accuracy. Students also participate in bank-related community service and outreach programs, as well as gain financial literacy.

“Every year RMHS represents not only the high school and the bank at the FED, but the community that we serve. The competition allows for the students to apply the course knowledge in a fun, professional way. The students always have a great time competing against the other schools, learning and sparking interest for even more knowledge,” says Mike Foley, Branch Manager at the RMHS office of Reading Cooperative Bank.
