RMLD Asks Customers to Conserve Electricity from 4pm-7pm Today to Help Reduce Future Power Supply Costs
Please help RMLD Shred the Peak!

Did you know that approximately 25% of your electric bill is determined by the level of energy consumed during one hour of the year? That one hour, referred to as peak demand, typically occurs on a hot weekday afternoon between June and August. This hour represents the highest point of electricity consumption for the Northeast Massachusetts Region, and is a key factor in RMLD’s future power supply costs. Reducing the amount of energy consumed during the peak demand hour will reduce RMLD's future power supply costs, which is a direct benefit to RMLD customers.
A potential peak is predicted from 4pm-7pm today, with the peak most likely to occur between 4pm and 5pm. Please help RMLD Shred the Peak by taking simple steps to conserve electricity from 4pm-7pm:
- Turn off unnecessary lights and electronics
- Delay using appliances such as washers, dryers, and dishwashers until after 7pm
- Postpone using pool pumps until after 7pm
- Raise the temperature setting on your air conditioner by a few degrees between the hours of 4pm and 7pm
- Cook dinner on the grill
