Rockets Tame Wildcats in 'Super' Match Up

The boys hockey playoffs won't start for a little over a week. But Reading found itself in a postseason caliber game in Wilmington, passing a major test against the Wildcats.

Division 2 Wilmington entered the game hoping to knock off Reading, which is ranked No. 4 in the state. By doing so, the Wildcats would have given themselves a chance to become the first team since Tewksbury in 1996 to earn a Super 8 invite.

But after Wilmington earned an early 1-0 edge, the Rockets struck back to tie the game in the second period and got the game-winner from Rob Devaney with just over three minutes to go in the game. 

Matt McLelland took the puck off a face off in the final minute and rifled it three-quarters of the way down the ice for the goal that sealed a 3-1 Reading victory in front of a packed house at Ristuccia Arena.
