Summer Traveling, Lost Luggage, and Insurance

Heading on vacation? You'll be happy to know this information about lost luggage and your insurance!

As the summer rolls around, more and more of us are planning those summer vacations. If your summer trip requires a flight, chances are you are already worried about losing your luggage. This is one of the number one concerns of almost anyone in the air. It seems as though no matter what you do, it can happen to anyone. We recently wrote on a blog on your insurance and losing your luggage. You’ll be happy to know that you do in fact have some coverage.

On your home insurance policy, you have personal contents coverage for the items in your home. When you are traveling, some of that coverage comes with you on the road. Of course, it depends on just how much stuff you have in your suitcase. For most people, you will be within your limits. You may go over if you have a lot of valuable items in your suitcase such as jewelry. For most this is not the case and your basic homeowners insurance personal contents coverage is enough for lost luggage.

While we all hope that we never have to deal with this situation, it’s good to know that you have enough coverage when you do. It may be a good idea to call your agent and check up on your policies before you travel or if you have questions about your coverage. It is always better to be safe than sorry and especially when it comes to two things: insurance and traveling.
