Tewksbury Man Dies In Reading I-93 Truck Crash: State Police

A Tewksbury man is dead following a two-truck crash on an I-93 ramp overnight.

READING, MA —A Tewksbury man was killed in a two-truck crash on I-93 north in Reading overnight, according to state police. Police responded to a call reporting an accident involving a pickup truck and a box truck in the area of the Commerce Way ramp at 1:02 a.m. Thursday.

An initial investigation found that a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Michael Murphy, was "apparently stopped" in the right lane when it was rear-ended by a 2022 International MV607 box truck registered out of New Hampshire, according to state police.

The box truck pushed the Silverado into the ramp's acceleration lane.

Murphy, 41, of Tewksbury, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The box truck's driver, a Vermont man, was not injured.

A state police investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The two right lanes at the site of the accident were closed for three hours for the emergency response and investigation.
