There Are No Dummies In Reading ... Ok, Maybe There's One
A State Trooper ... actually two of them ... caught a Reading resident cheating in the HOV lane.

And here I thought my neighbors were smarter than most. Apparently not.
From the Massachusetts State Police Facebook page today, under the heading "Don't Be A Dummy ..." a story of a Reading resident who tried to cheat the system. Read on. (And subscribe to Reading Patch and like us on Facebook for more local news and alert.)
"This morning, while monitoring traffic at the I-93 HOV lane in Charlestown, Trooper Todd Glidden noticed a "passenger" in a vehicle who just didn't seem right. Trooper Glidden motioned for the driver to pull over, but he kept on driving.
Trooper Kevin O'Brien, who was working enforcement at the opposite end of the HOV lane, also motioned for the driver to pull over ... he still didn't.
Trooper Glidden located and stopped the driver a short distance away. The driver, a 44-year-old man from Reading, was cited for the HOV violation and failure to stop for a police officer.
Please remember, the HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane is for two or more (actual) human beings."
First off, I'm 58, so don't look at me. Second, it's not like I didn't consider this option roughly a million times in my 30-plus years driving to work in Boston. In some ways I give the guy credit for trying. But more than anything else, I'd love to hear the discussion when they guy gets home tonight and sits down with his wife for dinner.
