Wakefield Girls Await Winner Of Tewksbury-Wilmington Game

The Wakefield girls' basketball team is waiting patiently for the outcome of Wednesday's first-round game between No. 7 seed Tewksbury and No. 10 Wilmington. The Warriors will host the winner of that game Saturday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

And don't forget the TV. Wakefield has been holding a contest to win a free Samsung 60-inch television. In three games so far no one has made the shots to win the TV, donated by Boston Appliance in Woburn. But a Saturday home tournament game means one more shot to win. All fans have to do is buy a ticket.

Middlesex rival Belmont earned the top seed in the tournament at 16-4.

The boys cut it close but made the field of 17 in Division 2 North as the No. 15 seed at 9-9. But the end came Monday when Wakefield fell to Marblehead, 60-51.
