Which Intersections Saw the Most Accidents in 2010?
According to data from police, all major intersections averaged less than one accident per month.

All of North Reading’s major intersections averaged less than one accident per month in 2010, according to traffic data from the .
The intersection of Park and Main streets saw 10 accidents in 2010, followed by Haverhill and Chestnut streets with seven. Traffic on Haverhill Street has a flashing yellow signal at that intersection.
Some of the other major intersections had even fewer accidents, including Winter and Main with two, and Lowell Road and Main and Park and Haverhill with one each for the entire year.

The 32 accidents at the major intersections reviewed accounted for a small portion of the 296 total accidents reported to police in 2010, according to the data.
According to North Reading police, the traffic division conducts an analysis of intersections and entire streets each year. The department uses the data to determine which areas of town may require more traffic enforcement activity to ensure motorist safety and reduce crashes, according to police.

Enforcement activities are directed toward the type of violations that cause the largest number of accidents, police said.
