White Sox Capture Reading Youth Baseball World Series

The White Sox captured Reading Youth Baseball’s 2011 World Series with two straight victories over the Tigers. The Majors Division White Sox, sponsored by Reading Athletic Club,  defeated the Tigers in Game One 20-8 as their powerhouse lineup belted six home runs including two from Connor Mulligan and a grand slam from home run leader Cary Thabet. Other round-trippers were provided by Jack Gohr, Justin McKiel and Tim O’Sullivan. 

Game Two was a nail biter that wasn’t decided until the final inning.  With the score tied 4-4 in the sixth, O’Sullivan and Jamie Thabet delivered key RBI hits to bring the White Sox their first World Series Championship in Reading Youth Baseball history with a 7-4 win.  Closer Jack Gohr shut down the Tigers with 4 strikeouts in the last two innings as C. J. Hart clutched the final out in his glove at second base.

Outstanding pitching all season long by Connor Mulligan, Cary Thabet, Jack Gohr and Michael “Buster” Jacobs brought the White Sox to the playoffs tied for the best record in the league at 11-3. 

Nathaniel Lemons, Zack Sahagian and Zack Hank supplied Top notch fielding and hitting throughout the regular season and playoffs.

The White Sox' remarkable playoff run started with a 6-2 win over the Athletics as Connor Mulligan and Cary Thabet combined to no-hitter the A’s. The Sox captured the American League Championship with a hard fought 4-2 victory over the Orioles as Mulligan and Thabet allowed only two hits in the game, two solo home runs off the bat of Corey DiLoreto.

Connor Mulligan led the offensive charge down the stretch for the White Sox as he slammed six home runs in the last five games he played. Outstanding teamwork and leadership from all the players and their families contributed to the White Sox 2011 World Series Championship.
