William Guazzaloca Passes Away

Served in United States Army, was 94 years old.

William A. Guazzaloca of Reading passed away on Sunday, June 4, at the Soldier's Home in Chelsea. He was 94 years of age.

Born on October 8, 1922 in Somerville, William was the devoted son of the late Nerino Guazzaloca and Elisa (Bregoli) Guazzaloca. William was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

William was a dedicated accountant for many years. A member of the Greatest Generation, William proudly defended our freedom by serving in the Infantry as a TEC 5 in the United States Army. William was a devout Catholic who you could find attending Sunday Mass regularly at St. Agnes Church in Reading. He loved his family. Time spent with his family meant the world to William. They were first and foremost in his life.

William was the beloved husband of the late Virginia (Lewis) Guazzaloca. He was the loving father of Jeanne M. Selfridge and her husband Larry, William E. Guazzaloca and his husband Michael Thorburn, Joseph P. Guazzaloca, Cheryl A. Sydorko and her husband Tony, Ted Guazzaloca and his wife Kathleen and Paul J. Guazzaloca and his wife Camille. The cherished grandfather of 14 and adoring great grandfather of 10, William was the dear brother of the late Orlando Guazzaloca, Edward Guazzaloca, Stella Bertelli, Lillian Guidoboni, Louise Calzolari and Flora Risser. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. Reading, Thursday, June 8th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating William's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the family on Wednesday, June 7th from 4-8 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
