Woman Fights Off Man Trying to Rob Her on South Street

A woman was walking her dog with cellphone in hand on South Street when an unknown male tried to steal her cellphone from her hand.

 

A Roslindale woman was able to fight off a male suspect who tried to steal her cellphone from her hand while she was walking her dog on South Street.

Around 10:35 a.m. on Nov. 12, the victim told Boston Police said she was stopped in front of 818 South Street, when she saw the alleged robber with two other males. The suspect allegedly pulled on the woman's arm for the phone, causing a struggle, and then the suspect let go and the phone fell to the ground and broke. The suspect then fled on foot towards the Roslindale Village commuter rail station, according to a Boston Police report.

The woman told the suspect she saw the two other males walking in front of 1 Conway Street, and that the alleged robber caught up to them and the three walked away. The victim said the two other males were not present when the attempted robbery took place.

Police broadcasted a description of the suspects and found two of them by Stellman and Fawndale roads. The victim was brought there and identified the two males as being with the alleged robber before and after the attempted robbery.
