Actor Ed Helms Discusses His Stay In Salem With Conan O'Brien
The actor told the Massachusetts native that "tragedy plus time equals gift shops."

SALEM, MA -- Actor Ed Helms, best known for his roles as Andy Bernard on "The Office" and as a nice-guy dentist in "The Hangover" franchise, was on Conan O'Brien's TBS talk show last week. One of the topics that came up in their conversation was his Salem, where Helms recently stayed for a movie shoot. Helm's said he was a bit miffed by the Witch City's obsession with witches.
"I felt it was a little bit tweaked," Helm's said. "But then again, the people were lovely, and I had a great time."
Helms was on Conan to promote "Chappaquiddick," in which he played Joe Gargan. Gargan was a Kennedy cousin who co-hosted the fateful party attended by both Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy and Kopechne, 28, left the party after drinking heavily and Kennedy ended up driving off a bridge and into water. While Kennedy escaped, Kopechne drowned.
