Adopt a Beach with Salem Sound Coastwatch - Training for volunteers, Wed. April 13, 7 PM

The training is also known as "Beaches 101" and is open to the public.

Salem Sound Coastwatch, a local environmental organization, is recruiting volunteers willing to adopt their favorite North Shore beach. Adopt a Beach volunteers, known as "beachkeepers," are trained to monitor their beach and help keep it clean. The 1.5 hour training session covers topics such as beach ecology, marine debris, how to identify storm damage and sources of pollution, and more. Beachkeepers operate independently and set their own schedules.

The next training is Wednesday, April 13, 7-8:30 pm at 12 Federal Street. There is also one scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 7-8:30 pm at 12 Federal Street. These sessions are also open to anyone interested in the science behind beaches.
