SALEM, MA — A North Shore private equity leader and Salem State alumnus has been named a commencement speaker at this year's SSU graduation ceremonies.
The school on Wednesday said that David Masse, who graduated in 1986, will also receive an honorary degree from the Bertolon School of Business at the May 15 afternoon ceremony.
Masse is the founder and chief executive officer of AAM15 Management and Georgetown Capital Management.
Masse leads the private equity investment firm AAM15 with a portfolio including hotels, multifamily communities, student housing, and the Kelly's Roast Beef brand, acquired in 2025.
The firm also invests in real estate.
Masse has secured more than $500 million in capital and has been involved in more than $4 billion in real estate transactions across a range of asset classes.
The school said he is recognized for his "strategic leadership, operational expertise, and ability to execute complex investment initiatives."
Salem State University President John Keenan said Masse's professional journey "embodies the core principles of Salem State University: lifelong learning, leadership in service of the public good and a belief in the power of community."
"As an alum, he has remained connected to the university's mission and serves as an example of how a Salem State education can be the foundation for meaningful, impactful work," Keenan said. "He has been recognized throughout his career for entrepreneurship, civic engagement and industry leadership.
"Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is committed to philanthropy and community service, supporting organizations focused on education, youth development and economic opportunity.”
This commencement will be held in the Richard B. O’Keefe Sports Complex. Tickets are required to attend and available to graduates and their guests.
All three weekend SSU ceremonies will also be broadcast live online.
