SALEM, MA — Salem will celebrate its state championship basketball team in style later this month with a rolling rally planned for Division 3's top team this past winter.
The Witches won the program's first state title in 31 years on March 14 with a 57-51 victory against Hanover. It was the fourth championship in program history.
The parade will also celebrate state wrestling champion Alexia Coleman, state swim champion Grant Dwyer, the division champion Salem High School marching band and the gold medal-winner Salem High School jazz ensemble.
The parade is set for May 30 at 11 a.m.
The rolling rally will consist of several buses and trolleys, and be accompanied by a police escort of cruisers and motorcycles.
The route will be from Salem High School on Willson Street to Jefferson Avenue, to Loring Avenue, to Lafayette Street.
The parade will continue downtown to Derby Street, Hawthorne Boulevard, Essex Street, the Pedestrian Mall, Washington Street, Church Street, Brown Street, and then conclude at Salem Common.
