The afternoon will feature classic field day activities, friendly competition and outdoor activities for all ages.

Admission to the park is free and open to the community.

The kickball tournament is open to participants ages 14 and up and requires pre-registration.

Classic field day games for kids and families are scheduled on the Front Lawn from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A kickball tournament is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stephen O'Grady Field. Free pool access for Salem residents is planned from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and a Fire Department spray zone is scheduled on the Front Lawn at 1 p.m.

Visitors can also get a Salem 400+ temporary tattoo, play pickup lawn games, try the concrete slide and get free ice cream while supplies last.

Parking at Forest River will be free for the day.

Visitors can also park at the Salem State University O’Keefe Sporting Complex at 225 Canal Street.

"This is exactly the kind of event Salem 400+ is all about," said Virginia Cherol, the Salem 400+ Coordinator. "Bringing families and neighbors together at one of Salem's most beloved parks is a perfect way to celebrate everything that makes this city so special.

"I hope everyone comes out to support the Salem 400+ kickball team."

Salem 400+ is also still seeking volunteers for the Aug. 1 parade. Organizers are looking for help throughout the day to support the 60-plus marchers and the thousands of spectators expected along the route.
