Salem, Beverly To Hold Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

SALEM, MA — Salem and Beverly will hold the joint annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Sept. 12 at Salem High School at 77 Willson Street.

The collection is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is open to Salem and Beverly residents with proof of residency.

The cost is $30 per car, cash only. No commercial vehicles will be allowed at the event.

Salem and Beverly residents can bring household items including motor oil, chemicals, pesticides, car batteries, propane cylinders and oil-based paint.

Regular car tires without rims will be accepted.

Latex paint will not be accepted. Those can be air-dried inside cans and placed in regular trash.

Residents of communities other than Salem and Beverly may also attend, but only during the final hour of the event. Residents of other communities can attend from 11 a.m. to 12 noon and should call the Salem Board of Health for pricing.

The annual collection gives residents a designated local drop-off for materials that should not go out with regular household trash.
