Bicyclist In Critical Condition After Salem Crash: Police

Salem police said the 59-year-old was taken to Salem Hospital and then to a Boston hospital for treatment.

SALEM, MA — A 59-year-old man was in critical condition at a Boston hospital on Thursday night after being struck at the intersection of North and Lynde streets in Salem.

Salem police said they responded to the crash at about 7:20 p.m. where they found the cyclist suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to Salem Hospital, and then transferred to a Boston hospital for further treatment.

Police said the 79-year-old driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

No charges were reported as of Thursday night.

"At this time, the incident is under investigation by the Salem Police Criminal Investigative Division and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section," Salem police said.

The Salem Fire Department, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Section, and Atlantic Ambulance assisted at the scene of the crash.
