SALEM, MA — ABC's "Nightline" will shine a national spotlight on Salem with a special "Frightline" episode from the Witch City set to air late Friday night on ABC and stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
The special takes viewers to Salem on the eve of Halloween to meet modern-day witches, descendants of people accused during the Salem witch trials, and a growing community of self-described vampires.
The episode will look at how Salem has become a spooky season destination for its history and Halloween identity.
Nightline airs on ABC on weeknights from 12:35 a.m. to 1:05 a.m.
ABC News correspondent Ashan Singh meets with modern-day witches as part of the special's look at present-day Salem. The program also includes descendants of accused witches from the 1600s, who explain how they are working to posthumously exonerate their ancestors.
The episode will look at what it calls the "burgeoning community of self-described real-life vampires." That portion includes an inside look at a vampire ball — described as "their version of the Met Gala for those celebrating the vampire spirit."
