BEVERLY, MA — Beverly's Troop 4 is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary in Scouting with a gathering at Second Congregational Church.
The Nov. 14 event is scheduled for 4 p.m., with guests welcome to arrive as early as 3:30 p.m. at the church on Conant Street.
The troop is inviting all current and former members of Troop 4 and their families to attend the centennial celebration. That includes Scouts, Scoutmasters, committee members and other invited guests.
Those planning to attend are asked to send an RSVP email to troop4beverly@gmail.com.
Troop 4 has introduced Scouting to many young people and families in Beverly over the years. The troop said 84 boys have achieved Eagle Scout through Troop 4, which is the highest rank in Scouting.
The troop said it currently has 17 Scouts who take part in a busy program of outdoor activities and advancement.
For many of its 100 years, Troop 4 has received support and sponsorship from Second Congregational Church.
Current Troop 4 Scoutmaster Nathan Towne-Smith described the milestone as meaningful for both the troop and its members.
"Rewarding watching these Scouts grow and mature from Cub Scouts into young adults, and it is an honor to serve as Scoutmaster for this Troop as it reaches its 100th year," he said.
Former members looking for more information can contact Towne-Smith at 508-523-1544 or Katarina Reilly at 617-461-2205.
