
The 13th Annual Steve O’Grady Open golf
tournament was held Monday, August 20 at Olde Salem Greens.
It was a perfect summer day as golfers teed off to honor the memory of Stephen M. O’Grady, Salem Little League VP and Boys & Girls Club Executive Director who was killed by a drunk driver in 1999 at the age of 30. Proceeds from the event benefit continuing education scholarships for Salem Little League Alumni, and major tournament sponsors were Salem Five Charitable Foundation and Danversport Yacht Club.
The winning foursome at -6 was Dana Ross, Pat Chasse, Ken LaJoie and Jeff LaJoie. There was a 3 way tie at –4, with 2nd place determined by a handicap hole.
The 2nd place team was: Hugh Galligan, Chris Felton, Robbie Ringhoff and Justin Henderson.
The 3rd place tie had identical scorecards at –4:
Group 1: Jeff Cross, Keith Medros, Jim Cross and Josh Cross.
Group 2: Jim Corbett, Jay Corbett, Jon Corbett and Tom

At the luncheon post tournament, 11 scholarships totaling $11,000 were awarded to this year’s Stephen M. O’Grady Scholarship recipients: Shane Alexander, Nathan Bertone, Megan Blair, Matthew Cocozella, Robert Dee, Nathan Dragon, Joseph Dunning, Cheyenne Griffin, David LeTarte, Teghan Malionek and Nicholas Walsh.
In 13 years, the Stephen O’Grady Foundation has donated more than $151,000 to Salem Youth, including 146 scholarships totaling $115,200 and $28,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.
