Beverly Woman Killed In Salem Pedestrian Strike

SALEM, MA — A 69-year-old Beverly woman died from injuries she suffered when she was struck by a vehicle outside of the North Shore Physicians Group building on Highland Avenue Friday morning.

Salem police said that Karen Raffa, 69, was in the patient pickup area at 331 Highland Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle driven by an 87-year-old Peabody woman at about 11 a.m.

Police said Raffa was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with significant injuries to her wrist and leg. While she was initially reported in stable condition, police said on Saturday that she later died.

Police said the driver stayed on the scene and was then taken to Salem Hospital for evaluation.

Police said as of Saturday there had been no charges filed in the strike.
