Body Recovered From Water At Salem's Central Wharf: Police

UPDATED 12:30 p.m.

SALEM, MA — Emergency responders recovered a body from the water near Central Wharf in Salem on Tuesday morning.

Salem police confirmed that crews were called for a "body floating in the water" at about 9:40 a.m. Upon arrival, it was determined that the person in the water was no longer alive.

"The body has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing," police said.

Police said further details "will be released when appropriate."

The medical examiner was called to the scene, according to reports.
