Breaking into the Business of Acting: Tips from a Casting Director
Boston Center for Adult Education Offers Local a Actors Class with One of Boston's Most Seasoned Casting Directors

From the filming of the new Ghostbusters movie to Ted 2, Boston is quickly becoming Hollywood’s East Coast hotspot. With all of the film productions comes hundreds of new opportunities for Bostonians to break into the industry, and on Saturday, August 8th, 2015 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) is offering students a chance to break a leg with its new class Breaking into the Business of Acting: Tips from a Casting Director. Taught by Boston Casting Director Julie Arvedon Knowlton, students will get an insider’s look at a world few conquer, as one of the best in the industry shares her knowledge and expertise about starting an acting career.
During this one session class Knowlton will teach students the tools they will need to succeed, what to expect at an audition, and how to stand out by showcasing unique skills. The concepts covered during this three-hour workshop will apply to theater, television, film and voice-over work. Students should come prepared to learn valuable and professional advice on how to succeed in this booming industry from an expert, while enjoying a good time with lots of laughs.
With over 25 years of experience, Knowlton has been involved in casting, marketing, advertising, public relations and video production in the Boston area, and is known around the city as a lead player in her field. Before joining Boston Casting, Knowlton’s vast resume includes Communications Manager at North Shore Music Theater, video producer for WHDH-TV, as well as New England Financial and Liberty Mutual. Along with Boston Casting, Knowlton is currently handling publicity for several theaters.
