Massachusetts State Senator Joan Lovely will be narrating “Jefferson: A Vision For America” with the North Shore Concert Band on Tuesday, June 30 at 7:00 PM. Salem State University educator Cynthia Napierkowski will be conducting the band at the Robert Hayes Bandstand in historic Salem Willows. This concert is a celebration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Salem and the 250th birthday of the United States.

The Jefferson piece is the work of composer and educator Robert W. Smith. It showcases the writings of Thomas Jefferson on educational rights, which are spoken by members of the band.

The North Shore Concert Band is made up of active members of the Boston Musicians Union Local 9-535. They primarily play free concerts at Salem Willows.
