Church Street Parking Lots Changing to a Pay-By-Plate Lot Beginning Tuesday

Church Street parking lots will be changing to a pay-by-plate lot beginning Tuesday, June 9.

The parking rates for the 190-space surface lots will remain unchanged, at $1/hour, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays.

Those parking in the lots will still use the lot kiosks. Instead of entering a parking space number, however, they will enter their license plate number and then pay for their desired time via cash or credit card. There is still no need to return to the parked vehicle to display anything on the dashboard.

This change will help the city save money spent on restriping space numbers and the signs and posts that are often damaged, according to officials.
