City Tackles Growth in Point Neighborhood

Those with a stake in the neighborhood are invited to attend a public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Those who live, work, play, or own property in the Point Neighborhood in Salem are invited to a public meeting on growth in the neighborhood on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

The meeting takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Salem Academy Charter School Cafeteria at 45 Congress Street.

The Point Neighborhood Association, the North Shore CDC, the City of Salem, and community partners will be holding the first meeting on the Salem Point Neighborhood Smart Growth Zoning Project.

City officials say that those who attend the meeting will learn about the 40R smart growth overlay district and be able to provide input on the potential for the neighborhood to accommodate more retail, residential, and mixed use and where they could be located.

Participants will also be able to share their opinions on design for the new development in the district.
