Cold Forces Delay Of Salem Trash Collection
Waste Management said mechanical problems are forcing delays for Salem trash and recycling pickups scheduled for Tuesday.

SALEM, MA -- Add "on-time trash collection" to the list of casualties from the current cold snap. The City of Salem sent out an alert Tuesday afternoon saying some garbage pickups scheduled for Tuesday may be delayed because of mechanical problems. The problems are also delaying Christmas tree pickup, which had been scheduled for this week, until next week.
Because of the holiday, trash normally picked up on Monday was supposed to have been picked up on Tuesday. Any pickups not made Tuesday will be completed on Wednesday morning, Waste Management said. The mechanical issues could lead to other delays for pickups scheduled later this week, and Christmas Tree collection will take place curbside January 8-19 on regular collection days for residents.
