The Power of Three
The power of three is a concept that declares, "Whatever you put out into the world will come back to you three times". Therefore, the idea of old hags placing curses on their enemy while sitting at black cauldrons is simply an outdated myth.

History of the craft (and how witchcraft came to be)
The definition of the word witchcraft is: "the use of magical faculties, most commonly for religious, divinatory or medical purposes." It is most often and wrongly considered as a source against the misfortunate. In its earliest days, witchcraft had also been seen as a diabolical pact with the devil.
The first know accusation in North America took place in 1645. At this time, Hugh and Mary Parsons of Springfield, MA brought charges of witchcraft against each other. * This chapter set the stage for the bigger scene that played out in Salem, MA in 1692. Here, as we are all aware 20 men and women were put to death for making a pact with the devil. Since then society has become enlightened. Wrong!
As recently as 2003 more then 750 people have been lynched, tortured and harassed for the crime of witchcraft in parts of India. In 2009 Amina Bint Abdulhalim Nassar, a Saudi woman was beheaded for witchcraft and sorcery and in June 2012 a Saudi man also lost his life because of accusations of sorcery.
White magic vs. black magic
The examples above are samples of what people assume witchcraft to be. Many believe all witchcraft consists of black magic; that it is used to do harm to others. In truth, witches often practice what is known as white magic, which by definition is benevolent and adheres to a code of conduct. This code of conduct professes: no magic can be applied or cast on another person without said person's consent. If by chance, a spell is cast without prior approval then the power of three will come into play.
