The Countdown to Kindergarten is on
Salem community celebrates the start of kindergarten with a special event at the Peabody Essex Museum.

The countdown is on for the first day of kindergarten in Salem.
That first day can be a little overwhelming for new students and their parents, so several community groups have gotten together to help make that transition easier.
The Kindergarten Countdown at the Peabody Essex Museum will take place on Saturday, August 29.

Incoming kindergarteners will get to meet other kindergarten students, sit on a school bus, listen to kindergarten stories, and make a craft.
The event is free and there is no need to register.

All kindergarten students will also get a special surprise.
The event is being co-sponsored by the Salem Public Library, Salem Public Schools Coordinated Family and Community Engagement, the Peabody Essex Museum, and the office of extended learning programs for the Salem Public Schools.
