Craigslist Scammer Gets 3 Years in State Prison

Craigslist scammer Jayson Fallis has been sentenced to three years in state prison for a in which he defrauded nine people out of $13,790, according to a press release from the .
Fallis pleaded guilty Friday to nine counts of larceny over $250 at Salem Superior Court, the DA reported.
After his prison term, Fallis will be subject to "five years of probation during which he must pay restitution, remain drug free, complete a recommended drug treatment and submit to random drug screens," according to the DA's Office.
The DA reported Fallis was credited 220 days toward his sentence as time served.

Assistant District Attorney Melissa Woodard recommended a sentence of six to nine years followed by five years of probation calling the scam “conniving and malicious," the DA's office reported.
In a press release, District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said: “The impact of this crime cannot be measured by the amount of money stolen from each person but rather the extreme disruption in the lives of nine families as a result of the defendant’s actions."
"In each case the victims found themselves with nowhere to live and the money needed to secure a place to live had been stolen from them," he added. "That it took place weeks before Christmas and in some cases involved families with young children is just deplorable.”
Victims have been provided support from Essex Victim Witness Advocate Kathy Draper, according to the DA.
