Discover details of 17th century life on Saturdays at The Gables
Visitors to The Gables will time travel back to Essex County in the 1600s — a rugged time of both hardship and great promise.

SALEM — The House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association will take part in 17th Century Saturdays on August 6, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors to The Gables will time travel back to Essex County in the 1600s — a rugged time of both hardship and great promise.
With regular admission, visitors will be able to enjoy a guided tour of The Gables, tour the gardens and grounds, and view the Nathaniel Hawthorne birthplace. Families can enjoy the popular Living History Lab program from 10:30 to 1p.m. and 2 to 4:30 p.m. The House of the Seven Gables is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
Organized by the North of Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, 17th Century Saturdays invite residents and visitors to explore Essex County’s extraordinary collection of homes, buildings and works of art from America’s First Period (1625–1725) of European settlement. Participating institutions share what it was like to live in Essex County as it was establishing itself.

The House of the Seven Gables will celebrate 17th Century Saturdays on the first Saturday of each month through October. Admission is free for members and Salem residents.
