Join Historic New England, Historic Salem, Inc., and the Pickering House for a hands-on, in-depth look at historic chimneys and masonry on Saturday, May 12, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Restoration mason Richard Irons will lead a tour of the 1665 Gedney House and its unique chimney—partially demolished in the past, it is open for study and exploration. Irons will talk about traditional building and mason practices in this attic-to-basement tour. The tour will be followed by lunch and a Q&A session with Irons and visitors are invited to bring pictures and documentation of their chimneys and fireplaces for consultation.
