Which fork do I use? How do I call on the lady of the house? What is the appropriate time to respond to correspondence? Find out the answers to these and other questions as Historic New England Registrar Megan MacNeil looks at the role of etiquette in entertaining in the early twentieth century. Following the lecture, a first floor tour will highlight just how the Phillips family demonstrated proper etiquette throughout their daily lives.
This special tour will take place on the evening of September 27 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 Historic New England members and $15 nonmembers. Registration is recommended as space is limited.

In 2012, we invite you to join us in the pursuit of leisure at Historic New England’s Phillips House Museum. Much of our programming will look at how the family played, travelled, collected, and enjoyed the company of a large number of friends and family after they moved into 34 Chestnut Street in September of 1912. A variety of programs including walking tours, lectures, and social events will share the story of fun in the early twentieth century.
