First Salem Back-To-School Fair Set For Palmer Cove Park
Students can pick up supplies along with enjoying a night of food and fun on Aug. 24.
SALEM, MA — It's that time of year again.
With the start of school just around the corner, Salem Public Schools is holding the first community-wide Back-To-School Fair in collaboration with the Salem Teachers Union and Salem Police Department.
The fair will be on Aug. 24 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Palmer Cove Park.

There will be backpacks, school supplies, books and other school items available for distribution to students. There will also be food and activities, such as games and arts and crafts.
The Salem Police Department will provide food as well as gift card giveaways to students.

School district staff will also be available to answer any questions that students or parents might have for the start of the school year.
The first day of school for the Carlton School grades 1 through 5 is Aug. 29. All other school grades 1 through 12 begin the new school year on Aug. 30.
Carlton kindergarten begins on Sept. 1. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten for all other schools begin on Sept. 6.
