The future is looking bright indeed for Salem Public Schools' Colorguard program! The Salem Winter Colorguard had a fantastic performance at the New England Scholastic Band Assoication Winter Activities Championships on Saturday, March 30th at Salem High School. Their dedication and hard work paid off as they took home a 4th place win out of the 11 Colorguard teams in their division. No small feat for this young team comprised primarily of underclassmen and middle school students. They performed beautifully as they took on their very experienced opponents in the Scholastic Regional A Division. Under the direction of Cynthia Napierkowski, Lennie Machado, Jennifer Doucette-Ly, and Lorraine Tucker, these young performers will continue to grow in their skills and will remain a wonderful asset to this program for many years to come. Winter Colorguard captains Marissa Fernandes (sophomore), Alannah Heenan (8th grader), and Veronica Mendonca (sophomore) offered exemplary student leadership throughout the season, and during Saturday's competition.
