A Glittering Past: Introduction to the History of Jewelry

Learn about the history of jewelry in New England

Come to the Phillips House Museum for a half-day workshop to learn about the fascinating history of jewelry from 1700 to today with Historic New England’s Associate Curator Laura Johnson. Using Historic New England’s extensive jewelry collection interspersed with short lectures illustrated with paintings, photographs and other materials from the collection, Johnson will explore how jewelry was made and worn. From costume jewelry to fine gold and diamonds, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to see and learn about these wearable works of art.

This workshop will take place on Saturday, March 28 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at 34 Chestnut Street in Salem, Mass. The cost is $40.00 for the general public and $25.00 for Historic New England members.
